Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice
Bow Street Museum is one of London’s newest independent museums – and one of its best kept secrets. We want you to help us change that.
We are currently looking to recruit 3-4 new Trustees to join our Board, primarily to support our fundraising and marketing, but also to support the museum in developing its long-term strategy. We are interested in hearing from those with experience in any of the following specialisms:
· Marketing and Communications
· Audience Development
· Public Engagement and Educational Programming
· Fundraising and Finance
Who we are
Located on the site of the iconic Bow Street Magistrate’s Court and the renowned Bow Street Police Station, our museum is filled with rich stories of investigations, arrests and justice being served. People’s stories are at the heart of our content, from the earliest watchmen and the Bow Street Runners to the cases of international renown, including Oscar Wilde, The Suffragettes, The Kray Twins and Dr Crippen.
Through our activities, events, and exhibitions, we aspire to explore the histories associated with stories of criminal justice (and injustice) and talk openly about how events from the past impacted the lives and communities of those involved and how they impact us today.
We are delighted that our major new project for 2026, “Echoes from the Dock” has been awarded a grant from The National Heritage Lottery Fund. This grant will help us restore the dock that Oscar Wilde stood in, in 1895, for his committal hearing, and enable us to develop an important new exhibition where we explore and learn from past injustices.
