Participate in the power of line and laughter

We are hiring a Collections Curator to join us on a fulltime, fixed term contract to 31 December 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our exhibitions programme, manage a collections move and deliver a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant.

In December 2024, we received a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a three-year project (ending 31 December 2027). This funding is essential to: create a touring exhibition, catalogue and improve the conditions of our collections, upskill staff and volunteers and develop an exciting forward exhibitions programme. It also has sparked our need to move our off-site collections into more suitable longer storage and re-launch our In-Focus programme of smaller and more regularly changing displays.

In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of a Collections Curator, we anticipate
activities in this second half of the project are:
• Marketing and increase bookings for our Comics: The famous and forgotten touring exhibition
• Overseeing a collections move
• Completing a collections risk register and improving our policies and documentation practices
• Training staff and volunteers

We are looking for a candidate with knowledge and experience in collections care within a Museum or Archive or relating to similar cultural collections and the skills to deliver projects successfully.

This is a fixed term contract to 31 December 2027 to complete the grant funded project; however, there is the possibility to extend.
