Seeds of Change Finalist 2026

The WI

WI National Craft Day will be an annual, scalable programme that mobilises WI members across England, Wales and the Islands to share traditional and
contemporary making skills with their communities.

Activities will include repair cafés, mending and upcycling workshops, school visits, community stitch-ins and exhibitions inspired by the WI textile archives and the history of textiles as feminist protest. The project will generate sustainable income through publications, retail, downloadable resources, partnerships and licensed event packs, creating a replicable model for the wider cultural sector.

About the WI

The WI is a unique organisation shaped by its members. Established in 1915, it aims to give women a voice and to be a force for good in the community.  Today it is the largest women’s organisation in the UK and campaigns nationally on a wide range of issues, providing life-long learning and self-development opportunities for women in England and Wales.
