Head of Commercial

We are seeking a Head of Commercial to lead this next phase.

The role

This is a critical role responsible for shaping and delivering York Minster’s commercial strategy across retail, events, group bookings, and commercial products.

You will define how we take our commercial offer to market, develop compelling value propositions, and build a structured approach to pricing, product development, and revenue growth.

You will lead a diverse team spanning retail, sales, and visitor-facing commercial activity, ensuring that income generation is both effective and aligned with the Minster’s purpose and visitor experience.

You will work closely with colleagues across marketing and audience experience to ensure that commercial ambition is grounded in operational reality and delivered through a cohesive, organisation-wide approach.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for a commercially experienced leader who can operate effectively in a complex and purpose-led environment.

You will bring:

A strong track record of leading commercial growth in sectors such as heritage, visitor attractions, hospitality, or retail
Experience developing go-to-market strategies, pricing models, and revenue plans
Strong financial and analytical capability, with a focus on income, margin, and performance
The ability to lead and develop teams, creating clarity, accountability, and momentum
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across functions and influence at senior levels
