Victoria Eggs has been designing and producing sustainable, ethically sourced products, which have been lovingly made in the UK since 2011 – a mission which has never been more relevant and important.

With the advent of fast fashion homeware and gifting, Victoria Eggs, Founder and Director, is doubling down on her mission to focus on sustainability, working with small-batch British suppliers, and proudly flying the flag for UK made.

We caught up with Victoria about the benefits of stocking UK made products and why it matters.

Why is it so important to you to support products that are made in Britain?

First and foremost I love design… always have, it’s my passion! However, I don’t just want to create beautifully designed products, I want to create beautifully designed products in the most sustainable way we can, with as little impact on the environment, and to make them as durable as possible so they can be cherished for a lifetime. I have a responsibility to our customers and to our planet to do so.

Why buy British?

One of the greatest benefits of choosing British-made products is the positive impact on the local economy. By investing in sustainable, UK-crafted goods, we are actively helping to sustain traditional crafts and directly support small artisan businesses that contribute to the cultural fabric of Britain.

In 2023 alone, the UK manufacturing sector contributed £217 billion to the economy and supported over 2.6 million jobs (Make UK). This thriving sector continues to grow, with UK firms investing £38.8 billion in greener technologies, sustainable manufacturing, and ethical practices. British-made products offer an alternative to mass-produced goods, emphasising fair wages, local employment, and the preservation of traditional skills that define the authenticity of British craftsmanship.

Britain as a brand resonates strongly with consumers too, and according to research from JKR and Ipsos, in partnership with the British Chambers of Commerce, 35% of consumers actively seek out British brands, and nearly 60% associate Britain with high-quality products.

Trust and pride play a big role here too—69% of consumers trust British brands, and 70% feel a sense of pride in buying them. This connection is so strong that nearly 40% of consumers are willing to pay more for British-made goods.

Lowering Your Carbon Footprint

Supporting British-made goods also helps reduce the environmental impact of transportation, as they travel fewer miles to reach your door. By choosing UK-made products, you can actively reduce your carbon footprint and promote an eco-conscious economy that prioritises sustainability.

Made to Last

British-made products are designed for durability, crafted with attention to detail and an emphasis on quality. Our fine bone china mugs, for example, are created by over 19 pairs of hands.

From sustainable homeware to beautiful gifts, these items are hand-crafted to be cherished over time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and unnecessary waste.

Our manufacturing partners share our commitment to sustainability, minimising waste, investing in eco-friendly technology, and continuously exploring ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

The Emotional Connection: Why Buying British Matters

When you buy a British-made product, you’re investing in a local craft. Each item represents the dedication, skill, and heritage of the craftsperson behind it, creating a meaningful connection between the maker and the buyer. This emotional bond adds value that goes beyond the physical product, giving customers pride in supporting a movement towards ethical, sustainable, and high-quality goods.

Finding UK partners to produce 100% of our stock can be challenging, but it’s worth it. We are proud to have built lasting relationships with our suppliers, and have grown together, in partnership over the years.

Supporting British-made goods helps preserve important traditional skills, fosters pride, supports local economies, and ensures that the rich legacy of British craftsmanship continues to thrive for future generations.
