We are restoring and repurposing New River Head, an industrial heritage site in Clerkenwell, to create the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration. Designed by Tim Ronalds Architects, the site’s five historic buildings will be converted into accessible exhibition galleries, a learning studio, project space, café-event space and shop, surrounded by gardens. We entered the construction phase in autumn 2024 and the Centre is due open to the public in Spring 2026.

The Centre will present temporary exhibitions exploring and celebrating different aspects of illustration. It will house four gallery/display spaces, a Learning Studio, a shop, café, and administrative and archival storage spaces. Our design team of Tim Ronalds Architects, Max Fordham, and Eckersley O’Callghan were appointed to design the new centre for opening in 2026.

We appointed an AV/IT consultant, AMMBA Design to complete the AV and IT systems design up to Stage 4 in 2025. Elements of the design have been closely coordinated with the architectural team, as our contractors, Rise Contracting, have been on site since October 2024.

We are now seeking to secure the services of an AV/IT fit-out contractor to deliver Stage 5 of the AV/IT fitout in the building. The contractor will need to work closely with Rise Contracts and the existing services sub-contractor, Gee Bec, to install and commission the final AV and IT equipment to the building.
