Serpentine has presented pioneering contemporary art since 1970.

ABOUT SERPENTINE

Championing latest ideas in contemporary art since 1970, Serpentine has presented pioneering exhibitions for half a century from a wide range of emerging practitioners to the most internationally recognised artists of our time.

Set in London’s Kensington Gardens, Serpentine presents a year-round programme of exhibitions, education and live events, across our two sites in park and beyond. Proud to maintain free access for all visitors, Serpentine reaches an exceptionally broad audience and maintains a deep connection with its local community and is building an avid digital following.

Serpentine looks to the future with a programme responding to the urgent issues of today. Key themes are: ecology and the climate emergency, equity and inclusion, the impact of digital and innovative technologies.

With the leadership of Bettina Korek, our Chief Executive, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, our Artistic Director, this is an exciting time to join Serpentine.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Serpentine Editions programme is a vital contributor to Serpentine’s income to ensure our galleries can remain free and open to all.  Our Enterprise team partner with artists to develop bespoke editions to generate income. Each edition project is unique, and we pride ourselves on adapting to meet the specific needs of our artists. Serpentine Editions has a strong reputation amongst key audiences who purchase our artworks and appreciate the artist-centred approach.

Our editions have opportunity to grow by expanding our sales in London and globally. The aim is to enhance our customer journey across our online presence and onsite in our galleries. Looking ahead, there is an opportunity to diversify products, and we plan to recruit a long-term leader to shape the next chapter of Serpentine’s retail strategy.

Ahead of the busy summer sales period where we will launch 4 new editions and need to prepare for Frieze Art Fair in October, Serpentine is seeking a commercially driven freelancer to manage the onsite and online retail products and platforms. Overall, this individual will deliver the day-to-day as well as test new opportunities to increase engagement across retail touchpoints to drive more sales.
