About the role

St Albans Museums is an award-wining local authority funded museum service that manages and operates a number of historic and cultural sites. These include Verulamium Museum, the Hypocaust, the 15th century Clock Tower and the dynamic St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre.

We are looking for a focused and passionate individual to join us in the role of Marketing Officer for a fixed term contract, until September 2026.

As the brand ambassador and lead for marketing across the Museum Service, you will develop and deliver ambitious marketing campaigns to grow and develop the profile of St Albans Museums to deliver against its targets.

You will oversee the core marketing campaigns and the wider programme during an ambitious period of growth for the museums, liaising with our PR agency, managing partnerships, undertaking market research and analysis of data.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with previous experience of leading marketing activity with an interest in the arts sector and museums and galleries. Creative and results driven you will have great communication and analytical skills with the ability to manage tight budgets and resources effectively.

You will be joining during an exciting period of NPO funded activity and will be responsible for marketing this programme as well as the core marketing activity.

St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, vibrant city centre and thriving villages. Our centrally located offices in the city are near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short it is a great place to live and work.

In addition to working within a great team and a comprehensive salary you will have access to:

28.5 days basic annual leave (increasing with service) + bank holidays.
Please note: annual leave will be pro-rated for anyone who does not have a standard full-time pattern of 37 hours over 5 days, e.g. part-timers
