A full-time, permanent role based at the British Library, St Pancras, London.
British Library Publishing is starting the search for an experienced Senior Editor with a minimum of four years’ in-house experience commissioning and producing notable and successful fiction titles ideally within the crime and horror genres. This role will lead on the British Library’s flagship Crime Classics, Tales of the Weird and Gilded Nightmares series and will involve the research, commissioning and creation of some 30 titles annually working within an established framework of external series editors, agents and estates and with unique and unparalleled access to one of the world’s greatest collections of books.

The ideal candidate for this role will need to be commercially astute, have a proven track-record of uncovering forgotten or overlooked texts and also have an excellent knowledge of classic crime fiction, weird and horror fiction. At the same time, they will need to demonstrate impeccable organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to maintain standards of the highest quality in terms of output, budgets and schedules. A wider interest in contemporary fiction and literary history would also be an advantage, as would a strong understanding of design and production techniques.

This full-time role is based in the inspiring setting of the British Library building in St Pancras and within a small, creative, collaborative and successful team.
