Books and Publishing
Scala
Scala specialises in producing illustrated books for museums, galleries, libraries, cathedrals, heritage sites and educational institutions. With offices in London and New York, we work with many of the most prestigious organisations in the world.
In 2021, our range of genres and international reach continue to flourish, while our standards of design and production remain as high as ever, as does the calibre of our institution partnerships. We are delighted to welcome clients for the first time from Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, Latvia, Malta, Slovakia and Uzbekistan as well as new clients in Australia, Singapore, Russia, Portugal, Poland, Austria and Ireland.
Our performing arts list has been greatly enhanced this year by a publication with Theatre Royal Drury Lane and we’re thrilled to welcome celebrity photographer Andy Gotts to our photography list. Our exhibition catalogues feature the amazing costumes of stage and screen actor Glenn Close, a collaboration with Louvre Abu Dhabi on the intersection between Eastern calligraphic traditions and Western modern art, the bold works of Hunt Slonem on display at the DTR Modern Gallery and the Ringling Museum’s collection of prints by renowned Japanese artist Saito Kiyoshi.
Institution highlights include the monuments in St Paul’s Cathedral and the extraordinarily rich Francisco Capelo Asia Collection, housed in a 17th century building in Lisbon, and two wonderful additions to our growing Libraries list: Lambeth Palace Library and the Abbey Library of Saint Gall, Switzerland. Our ever-popular Director’s Choice series – currently featuring over 70 titles from 24 countries across four continents – is now available in an interactive digital format, testament to Scala’s commitment to fulfilling the publishing needs of cultural institutions into the digital age.
