Lottie Cole

Lottie Cole is an artist based in Sussex. Her work explores storytelling and creation of atmosphere and mood. She has painted both real and imagined interiors. Fascinated by the Bloomsbury Group, Charleston Farmhouse and Monk’s House, she has painted their world extensively (pictured: The Study at Charleston).

In creating imagined interiors filled with Modern British Art and lovely furniture, Lottie has a clear idea of the owner in the room, their life and interests, and sees the final picture as a modern interpretation of the conversation piece. She aims to convey the ideas of ‘home’ and what people have created for themselves. 

While there is an obvious preoccupation with content in her pictures, Lottie is also focused on colour and physicality of paint. She is a gallery artist at Cricket Fine Art and most recently she has been shortlisted in the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and the RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition. Her growing subjects encompass gardens and exteriors and a very popular Christmas card range.
