The Photographers' Gallery
We’re looking for a Bookshop Specialist Sales Assistant to join our friendly, visitor‑focused team at The Photographers’ Gallery. If you enjoy working with people, have a strong interest in photography and books, and like helping create a welcoming, inspiring retail space, this is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a vibrant cultural venue.
The Photographers’ Gallery explores how photography is connecting, captivating and reshaping our world today. Across our exhibitions, talks, workshops, digital programmes and commercial spaces, including the Café, Bookshop and Print Sales Gallery, we aim to create an inclusive, engaging environment for all visitors.
Our Bookshop offers a distinctive range of photography books, zines, journals, editions, films, cameras and gifts, welcoming everyone from photography specialists to curious first‑time visitors. As part of our Enterprises, the Bookshop plays a key role in supporting the Gallery’s charitable programme.
As a Bookshop Specialist Sales Assistant, you’ll help ensure every visitor has a positive and inclusive experience. You’ll provide knowledgeable, approachable customer service, offering informed advice on books and products, processing in‑store and online sales, and helping keep the Bookshop well‑organised, visually engaging and running smoothly day to day. You’ll also support stock management, ecommerce orders, merchandising, and busy periods such as events and exhibition launches.
You’ll work closely with the Bookshop team and colleagues across the Gallery and may support other visitor‑facing areas as part of a flexible, joined‑up approach, with training provided. There will also be opportunities to develop specialist product knowledge and gain experience in areas such as ecommerce, stock control and shop supervision.
If you enjoy engaging with a wide range of people, take pride in excellent service, and thrive in a busy cultural retail environment, we’d love to receive your application.
