We’re delighted to open applications for our very first Mentoring Programme for members.
The Mentoring Programme will award places to six mentees and six mentors, and is designed to last twelve months.
It’s completely free, one of the many benefits of Association membership.
- Open to those employed by a full member of Cultural Enterprises
- Applications close 21 September
- Successful applicants announced 1 October
- Introduction & Matching Day for mentees and mentors 15 October, via Zoom
- Mentor Training Day 22 October, via Zoom
We wanted to launch a scheme to help develop junior talent in cultural enterprises. Applications are strongly welcomed and encouraged from all backgrounds, ages, and locations, especially from BAME backgrounds which are traditionally under-represented in the arts and heritage sector.

Who can be a mentee?
- May be in a junior, supervisor, management, or head of department role
- Can come from any area of the sector, based in any location at any age
- Can identify some professional and/or personal goals to work toward in the programme
- You may be introverted or someone not usually in a position of leadership who wants to develop skills – it’s open to everyone, but you must be motivated and dedicated to engage with your mentor
Who can be a mentor?
- May be a head of department, team leader, or director/CEO
- Has some line management or leadership experience
- Someone who gets a sense of satisfaction from helping others develop and learn
- Motivated and willing to dedicate time to their mentee
Our programme will assist in the development of commercial and people skills, confidence, strategic thinking & performance. Mentoring, and the use of simple coaching techniques, can enhance the culture of any organisation by helping people to realise their potential.
Mentoring helps you to:

Mentors, not only is this a valuable opportunity to pass on your experience and give something back to the sector, but integrating simple performance coaching techniques can help you to get the best out of your team. You will:
- Get a full days mentoring training from an expert
- Use questioning techniques in order to identify solutions and actions
- Support your mentee in setting appropriate goals and methods of assessing progress
- Encourage a commitment to action and the development of lasting personal change and growth
- Encourage your mentee to continually improve competencies and to develop new skills
